Listen to the Warsaw Expert Forum

29 September 2022

The first Expert Forum, which took place on 29 September 2022 at Dom Spotkań z Historią in Warsaw, focuses on symptoms of the current democratic crisis in Europe and asks for its roots in history. Historians and Lawyers are haunted by the question, how main actors who once fought on the forefront for liberalism and democracy in their countries are now on the contrary side. The group of experts analyzes the relation between the rule of law and the economy, and highlights differences especially of recent Hungarian and Polish experiences in a broader European context.

Discussants are the Professor of comparative constitutional law Renáta Uitz (CEU Democracy Institute), the political scientist and doctoral researcher in Poland Edit Zgut-Przybylska (European Studies Unit in IFIS PAN), the lawyer specializing in constitutional law and human rights Professor Adam Bodnar, and the Associate Professor for Sociology Michal Kaczmarczyk (University of Gdansk). Historian Michal Kopeček moderates the Forum.
